NB Coatings requires all Chemists to have a degree in Chemistry or related science fields, with relevant experience for two years. An NB Coatings’ Chemist understands the materials used and is able to discover and comprehend technical issues. They also help develop problem-solving ideas with a supervisor.

A successful candidate would use hand-spray equipment to create panels with a consistent finish for evaluation. Expectations include the ability to employ customer methods for application and work with concepts such as rotary and e-state applications. Spraying with minimal assistance will become a common task and the employee will learn how to do this consistently.

Proficiency in popular computer software such as Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, and Excel is important. These tools will be used to communicate data and ideas internally, and sometimes with clients. Record keeping and documents pertaining to analyses of laboratory work is required. There is occasional direct customer contact, and candidates must show a reasonable willingness to travel for the job and work overtime. Customers’ timelines often change and NB Coatings as a company must adapt to this. Because it is required to talk to clients in a limited capacity, it is important to understand NB Coatings’ procedures to respond to customer requests.

The Chemist may have to work priority shifts and meet the physical requirements of the job. Employees must be able to walk, stand, sit, talk and hear. They will also need to lift and move objects of around 50 lbs. A full range of vision and the ability to recognize colors is essential as well. The work environment, in terms of noise, can be moderate to loud. It should be noted that training takes places out of town.
